It’s interesting to see what can be done with genetic engineering. This
particular case - where someone is trying to splice some human DNA into
a plant - makes me just shudder to think of the possible unintended
consequences. That’s just got "bad" written all over it.

There’s no angle for energy in this, of course, since the algae are
going to take a fairly refined energy source (glucose) and turn a small
fraction of it into oil. That’s fine if you’re growing vitamins, but not
if you’re growing energy:)
